Physical Therapy
Physical Therapy treatments at FMPT begin only after a thorough Physical Therapy Evaluation by our highly qualified Physical Therapists with many years of diverse experience and expertise. This ensures that the proper musculoskeletal impairments, limitations and dysfunctions will be treated as related to the referring physician diagnosis. This is particularly important when a referring diagnosis may be as general as “pain” in a region of the body.
A Physical Therapist then determines an individualized and specialized treatment plan that consists of skilled manual therapy techniques in combination with exercise to strengthen, stabilize, regain range of motion, re-learn movement and/or rehabilitate the musculoskeletal system to improve function. Various modalities are used as indicated for pain relief and healing. Our Physical Therapists take the time to listen, so each treatment is specific to each patient, as driven by their response and changes in symptoms. Throughout your course of treatment, we are always alert to “red flags” that are out of our scope of practice that will prompt us to refer the patient for further evaluation, or immediate medical attention.
Each patient is closely supervised bya Physical Therapist when beginning their individualized exercise program. We strive to educate each patient to provide them with the independence needed for lifelong change, rather than a short term fix.
We have experience treating the impairment/limitations/dysfunctions related to the following diagnoses:
Orthopedic: Degenerative Disc Disease, Disc Herniations, Spinal Stenosis, Sacroiliac Dysfunction, Compression Fractures, Costochondritis, Plantar Fasciitis, Ankle sprains, Tendonitis
Neurological: Stroke, Brain Injury, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, Cerebral Palsy
Post Surgical: Total Knee Arthroplasy, Total Hip Arthoplasty, Total Shoulder, Rotator Cuff Repairs, Menisical, ACL and/or PCL repairs, Spinal Fusion, Laminectomy
Geriatric: Osteoporosis, Balance Impairments
Vestibular: Vertigo, Benign Paroxsymal Positional Vertigo
Pediatric: Torticollis, Toe walker/Tight achilles, Hypotonia (Low tone), Developmental Delay, Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis
Autoimmune: Rheumatoid Arthritis, Fibromyalgia
This is not an exclusive list. Please contact our clinic if you have a diagnosis or condition that is not listed here. We will let you know if it is within our scope of practice or expertise. If not, we should be able to refer to a health professional in the area that can help you.
